Ongoing Programmes
South Asian Coalition for Improved Nutrition (SACIN)
SAWTEE, as the lead for Nepal under the SACIN project, will explore areas to strengthen policy coherence in support programmes related to agriculture, taxes, tariffs, and other non-tariff measures for better public health nutrition outcomes. The project aims to examine the relationship between trade, fiscal policy, and food security in Nepal, focusing on how these policies impact dietary choices and nutrition outcomes. Insights generated will help inform more coherent, nutrition-sensitive policymaking to improve food and nutrition security and support better health outcomes for the population.A study on exports
With the support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), SAWTEE is conducting a study (from February 2024 to March 2025) to suggest policy recommendations to inform the ADB Country Partnership Strategy (2025-2029) for fostering export growth and support development of a new growth model which is based on competitive businesses producing and exporting a range of goods and services. The study carries out an empirical analysis of the constraints on the growth of export of goods and services, challenges that firms in Nepal face in moving production from the domestic to the foreign markets and the enabling factors behind successful export stories. It identifies factors that explain the performance of successful exporters. It also considers the factors which have led to the exit of firms from export markets and kept away potential entrants for export.
